GigPulse Privacy Policy

GigPulse respects user privacy and is designed to operate with minimal data collection.

Information Collection

GigPulse does not collect, store, sell, or transmit personal data to external servers.

All trip calculations happen on the user's device. The text GigPulse reads from rideshare screens is processed on the device and is never uploaded.

Accessibility Service Usage

GigPulse uses Android's Accessibility Service to read on-screen text from rideshare apps (such as Uber and Lyft) to:

  • Calculate real-time hourly rates for trip offers
  • Detect bonus and surge pricing opportunities
  • Display rate overlays to help drivers make informed decisions

The Accessibility Service is NOT used to:

  • Collect passwords, messages, or personal information
  • Track user location
  • Record or transmit trip or screen content off-device
  • Interact with banking or payment apps

Permissions

GigPulse requests the following permissions:

  • Accessibility Service: To read rideshare app screens and calculate trip rates
  • Display Over Other Apps: To show rate overlay on screen
  • Notifications: To alert users of bonus opportunities
  • Vibration: For alert notifications (optional)
  • Internet: Used only by Google Play billing (to check your subscription) and Google ML Kit diagnostics
  • Battery optimization exemption: Keeps trip alerts working while the phone is idle
  • Foreground service: Keeps GigPulse running reliably while you drive

These permissions are used only for core app functionality and are never used to collect personal data.

Offer sound: GigPulse notices when a rideshare app plays its trip-offer sound so it can check the screen faster. It never uses the microphone and never records audio.

Trip Screenshots Feature

If enabled by the user, GigPulse can save screenshots of trip offers to the device's local storage (Pictures/GigPulse folder). These images remain on the device and are never uploaded or transmitted.

Data Sharing

GigPulse does not share user data with third parties. No advertising SDKs or trackers are used. GigPulse uses Google ML Kit text recognition, which sends limited diagnostic data to Google, described below.

Google ML Kit diagnostics

GigPulse uses Google's on-device text recognition (ML Kit) to read trip offers. The offer text itself stays on your device. ML Kit sends limited diagnostic information to Google to keep the feature working: device model and Android version, app package and version, a per-installation identifier that is not intended to identify you, and performance and error data. Google encrypts this data in transit and does not share it with third parties. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play. GigPulse never receives your payment details.

Data Storage

All app settings and preferences remain on the user's device. No cloud storage or external servers are used.

Children's Privacy

GigPulse is not intended for use by children under 18. The app is designed for adult gig economy workers.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the app evolves. Updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date.
