Get started

  1. Install Block Em! from Google Play and open it.
  2. Choose a subscription or an eligible trial. Blocking is a subscription feature.
  3. Complete the setup walkthrough and select Block Em! as Android's call-screening app.
  4. To protect recognized saved contacts, grant Contacts permission and keep Protect saved contacts enabled.
  5. Add the area codes or prefixes you want to block, set your daily blocking hours and turn blocking on.

What can it block?

Rules contain 3–10 digits and match incoming phone-number prefixes. A 10-digit rule can match a specific number. A broad prefix can also match legitimate callers, so choose your rules carefully. The optional carrier-verification filter requires Android 11 or newer and information supplied by your carrier.

Block Em! is a rule-based phone-call blocker. It does not block text messages or calls inside messaging apps, and it is not a crowdsourced spam-number database. Prefix rules cannot match a hidden or unavailable phone number.

Why did a call ring?

  • Check that setup is complete, Block Em! is still the call-screening app, and blocking is enabled.
  • Check your blocking hours and whether the incoming number matches a saved rule.
  • A number recognized as a saved contact bypasses blocking when contact protection is enabled.
  • Confirm that your Google Play subscription or trial is active. Open Block Em! with a working connection so it can refresh subscription access. The currently published version should be opened regularly for this check.
  • When access cannot be confirmed or blocking is paused, the app allows calls through.

Plans and cancellation

The current US plans are $1.99 per month or $14.99 per year. The monthly plan offers a 7-day trial to eligible accounts that have never had Block Em! Premium. The annual plan has no trial. Google Play shows your exact eligibility, price and renewal terms before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.

Manage or cancel in Google Play Subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. For purchase issues, check the Google account that owns the subscription.
